I missed the last Bout of Books, and since I read in short bursts I thought I’d join this time around. I have a list of books I own that I’ve not read, mostly second books in a series that I let simmer for too long and lost interest in, and I plan on reading those. I’m not doing this for prizes or anything (though they are hosting challenges and giving away prizes), just for the satisfaction of reading these books that have sat for too long. They mock me. But also, I’m just better at things when there is competition involved. Here are the books I plan to read:
The Reintegrators by Will Weisser.
I’m 100 pages in and it’s okay, the writing is good, the idea sounds cool, but the characters seem uninteresting, SO FAR….
Days of Blood and Starlight – Laini Taylor
Yea, I know. I haven’t read Days of Blood and Starlight. But in my defense I lost it at the end of Daughter of Smoke and Bone and was hoping stuff that happened would end up not being true. For whatever reason. So I’m going to get back into this book and go right through it to get to Dream of Gods and Monsters. Her writing is amazing and her world is memorizing and it stares at me from the book shelf saying, WHY AREN’T YOU READING ME?
Dreams of Gods and Monsters – Laini Taylor
Do I need to say anything? The cover is art I would put on my walls and I’m sure the writing will match and I just HOPE the story goes along with the beautiful of all the rest. (Please?)
Looking for Alaska – John Green
I bought this after reading TFIOS and wanting to devour all that is John Green’s writing. I started it and got distracted. I will FINISH THIS BOOK. 🙂
The Evolution of Mara Dyer – Michele Hodkin
I really liked the Unbecoming of Mara Dyer and while this one has started out a little weird, I have high hopes for it anyway.
Promised – Caragh M. O’Brien
I really really really loved Birthmarked, and I loved loved loved Prized, and I can’t wait to get into this because sadly I’m only able to remember very few details of the other books :-/
Sabriel – Garth Nix
If I don’t read this soon my sister might kill me in my sleep.
Minus the 350 or so pages I’ve already read of three of the books on the list.
2716/7= 388 pages per day. I think I can, I think I can…
And if that wasn’t enough of a “Fantastic Ambition”, I’m planning to have my first draft done, and hopefully not just ready to revise, hopefully ready to send to my few close friends who have offered to read and give honest opinions. I’m shooting for about 85,000 words and I’m barely halfway through, so to have it done in a month would be really big for me. I started it back in November but I’ve been adding hundreds to my word counts each time I write (nightly). At least 1,750 words per night is an attainable number, right? 🙂
